Jon: Sir Edmund Hillary’s first words to George Lowe after summiting Everest with Tenzing Norway: “Well, George, we knocked the bastard off.”
Nick: The altitude/tolerance effect is one of those things I can never keep straight in my head, like the difference between near and far-sighted. I’ve worn glasses because I can’t see far-away stuff for like 10 years, but I still can’t tell you what kind of eyes I’ve got. I also can’t tell the difference between butter and I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter, but I think that’s a separate problem.
